Waterloo Article in the Plain Dealer

Today's Plain Dealer featured a great story about our Waterloo Road efforts. This story was prominently displayed on the cover of the Arts and Life Section. The story started with the history of Music Saves and featured many photos of artists endeavoring in the district.

The story was fabulous and we are very thankful that the Plain Dealer highlighted our progress on the street to date.

If you missed the story, follow the links below to read the article on-line:

Great Disc Golf Event!

The Clevleand Roc Disc Golf Open occurred right here in the neighborhood over the Labor Day weekend. This entire event was the endeavor or our local business owner, Scott Nathanson.

We want to applaud Scott Nathanson for putting on a tremendous event during Labor Day weekend. The Cleveland Roc Disc Golf Open occurred at Sims Park and the Cuyahoga County Airport.

Between competitions, participants and observers gathered at Scott's Italian Eatery on East 185th Street to get refueled.

Scott did a great job securing neighborhood support for the event. As a sponsor of the event, Scott created the banner shown here. Doesn't it look great?

We hope the Cleveland Roc Disc Golf Open can continue to grow each year. Scott's work on the event is really commendable.

Waterloo Arts Festival

On July 28, Arts Collinwood closed down Waterloo Road and we celebrated the arts on a beautiful summer day.

This year's Waterloo Arts Festival was the biggest yet. The event continues to grow each year, both with the number of attendees and activities going on.

This year, many new events really expanded the event. Blogapalooza occurred in the tavern at the Beachland Ballroom. The bloggers had a great range of music and comedy to enjoy throughout the day. Also, Joan of Art organized a great arts show just next to her True Art gallery. Euclid Beach Park Now expanded their programming with a Carrousel Horse carving and painting exhibit. Also, the Zaller Building hosted three different art shows inside the building along with an exhibit in the sculpture garden. In the nearby residential neighborhood, two houses in the Waterloo Village area were open for showings.

New merchants on the street also participated this year. Cafe Marika was open for its first festival. Shoparoonie installed "coming soon" signage at their new home at 15813 Waterloo Road. The ThInk gallery and tattoo shop allowed Progressive Arts Alliance to paint a Waterloo mural on their building.
The day was great and we thank everyone for coming out. Plans are already underway for next year's event. If you have a thought about the day's festivities, please let us know.
