On a very sad Friday in September, the Arabica on East 185th Street served its last latte. Quoting increasing costs and rough sales in a troubled regional economy, the owner of Arabica, John Bausone, decided he could not renew his lease and decided to close the business. Northeast Shores has received countless phone calls from concerned residents about losing their corner coffee shop.
Not to fear! The Arabica on East 185th Street will reopen soon. We learned last night that corporate Arabica has issued a new franchise for that location. The business owner's name is Jim.
We understand Arabica will reopen by December 1, 2008. Until then, weep as you sip your Folger's.
