Save the Beachland Post Office Branch

Due to declining revenue, the US Postal Service is considering closing 16 branches in Northeast Ohio.

Unfortunately, one of the branches being considered for closure is our very own Beachland Post Office located on East 185th Street.

This move could be devastating for the neighborhood. East 185th Street has already had to respond to several hits including the closing of Tops Family Markets, Medic Drug and Lakeshore Chevy. While we have responded to these closures with the opening of Save-A-Lot and Rite Aid, losing the post office is one more black eye to this proud historic district that we should not have to endure

As many of you are aware, the Beachland Post Office is a major draw and attraction to the East 185th Street Business District. Losing a post office is very damaging and is rarely undone after it happens.

So, how can you help us save the Beachland Post Office? Please print off the attached survey, complete it, and mail it in by this Friday, July 25th.

Here is a helpful hint. The post office has to consider the impact that the closure will have on customer access and real estate values. Therefore, please make sure to mention in your survey the impact this closure may have on these items.

In particular, it would be helpful if respondents stated "Yes" and "No" to question four. This question is intended to measure whether closing the Beachland Post Office will reduce the number of trips you make to East 185th Street. Please make it clear to the US Postal Service that this closure will indeed reduce the number of trips you make.
